JPRD slates softball clinics, soccer, and a date night

Softball season will begin soon and the Jefferson park and recreation department is ready to get girls ready to play with pre-season pitching and hitting clinics starting next Sunday, March 5. Greene County head softball coach tom Kennedy will help girls learn drills and techniques for pitching from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Sundays through March 26 at Greene County Community Center.

Hitting clinics will be from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, also on Sundays. The clinics are for girls in grades 4-8. The registration deadline is March 5.

The registration deadline for the spring soccer season is March 10 for players in the U10 (born 2008-09), U12 (born 2006-07), and U15 (born 2003-05) leagues. Players will need to provide a copy of their birth certificate.

Practices will start the week of March 27 and will be in Jefferson. Practice times will be set by the coaches. Games will start April 8 and will be in Fort Dodge.

The popular Mother Son Date Night is Friday, March 10, from 6 to 8:30 pm at the community center.

Boys in pre-school to fifth grade are invited to bring their mother, grandmother, or mother figure to the Mother Son Date Night. The night of fun will begin with pizza and bingo. After bingo there will be music, games and activities until 8:30 pm.

All girls planning to play softball this spring and summer are encouraged to participate in the upcoming clinics.
